Today is a very sad day.
Years ago, when I lived in New Farm, I was walking Helga and saw a sign on the sidewalk saying “Film lab”. I walked in to check it out.
When I got home, I grabbed my Canon EOS 500 that still had half roll in it and decided to start shooting some film.
That lab got me into film photography. And film photography made me a better photographer.
Ever since I’ve been loyal to Racquet. I trust them and there’s nowhere else I would rather send my rolls to develop and scan.
But the events of the past few years hit them hard. Covid made people stop travel, so less rolls to develop. Then the floods. With that, customers not understanding what they were going through moved on.
And now there’s a film shortage. And Kodak is raising their prices, a lot.
Racquet is closing their doors for good.
It’s a massive loss for the photography community.
Thank you SO MUCH for your incredible work over the years. I wish you Sam and Bronwyn all the best. I’ll miss coming over and having a coffee and chat.
Much, much love 🖤
