Absolution by Yellow Cop Ft. Scarlet Bow
Many years ago (back in 2003) I saw a music video of The White Stripes’ “I just don’t know what to do with myself” featuring Kate Moss and directed by Sofia Copolla. I was hooked straight away and always wanted to create something that beautiful. Back then I have never even taken a photograph, let alone make a video.
Fast forward to now and I’m a full time photographer but just starting to get into some video, but I thought it was time try to create something inspired by that music clip.
I messaged my amazing friend Scarlet because damn who better to be my dancer (we have shot together some three times before this, so we know really well how each other works)?
And then it was all a matter of finding a location (the date was set straight away).
At first I was considering a place without a pole, but Scarlet said she could actually do some pole dancing, so I shift my search (with only 5 days to find a venue) and I found one very close to me, in Fortitude Valley (Brisbane): Pure Pole Academy. I also asked my trainee/assistant to be, Kat, to join us, to assist me, and she ended up owning the second camera!
So enough talking, here’s the final result (and some stills I shot while filming it). If you have seen Kate Moss’ video you might think “oh this is a bit different”… well, that video was my inspiration, and I was not trying to copy it exactly how it was.
