Networking

To me it’s very important to go out and meet new people from the industry you want to be a part of. Going to networking events is a great way to do just that: meet new people, catch up with the friends you made in the industry, discuss what’s happened and what’s next and have some fun!

There are lots of meetups for photographers out there. You can use the Meetup App to find some if you would like, but there wasn’t a meetup for this side of the industry, with photographers, models, makeup artists, designers, stylists, etc, so we started organising some for Brisbane Models Facebook Group.

Some times we have LOTS of people attending, some times just the few usual suspects, but it’s always fun regardless.

There’s not a lot to say about these events other than it gets you out of the house to hang out with other creative people. Don’t expect to get direct work out of one of these but you’ll certainly make contacts that can lead to work in the future. If not, at least you get to meet nice people 🙂

If you are in Brisbane

In Brisbane we create a Facebook Page so we can post the upcoming events. This way they are not linked to a single particular group and everyone is welcome to join. We try to have one meetup every month so if you would like to stay updated on when and where the next one will be, please go like that page to get the notifications about these events.
